What NOT to do in Business – LIE to your Customers!

July 30, 2009 Commentary

I’ve only got a few minutes, but I had to get something off of my chest. After determining that I’m just not going to use my gym membership, I decided to give my 30 days notice. I knew that I had to get this handled quickly, as the end of the month was quickly approaching. [...]

Changing Your Works from Creative Commons Attribution to All Rights Reserved . . . WHY?

July 28, 2009 Blogging

Yesterday, I received a message that blew my mind. In a post that I wrote for another blog last summer, I had included an image that I found in Flikr’s Creative Commons directory. This image was posted under a license requiring anyone using it to attribute the image to them. (NOTE: Image above is not [...]

How Often do You Clean Out Your WordPress Plugins?

July 27, 2009 Entrepreneurship

With every few upgrades of WordPress or so, I notice that there is no longer a need for one of the plugins that I’m using. In may cases, WordPress itself has integrated the functionality that the plugin was designed for. Occasionally, I’ll note that one of my plugins has become relatively useless to me or [...]

End of a Rough One

July 26, 2009 Commentary

This has been one rough week! I learned that my neighbor’s “lawn” was likely sending the bugs that were destroying mine – thanks LawnDoctor for the info. I was hopelessly unable to connect with several key people who I rely on for advice and help. I was the victim of a “glitch” at Paypal that [...]

Hiding Your Real Identity when Participating in Social Media – Good or Bad?

May 3, 2009 Social Media

Should a Real Name be Required when Participating in Social Media? This question has been floating out there for a while, but I just wanted to get it in circulation again. Frankly, I believe that if you are not willing to reveal who you really are when participating in social networks, forums, and other social [...]

The Twitter Epiphany: Why post on Twitter when you can post on your blog?

May 1, 2009 Blogging

I’ll admit that I’ve become accustomed to using Twitter (and other social media) throughout my day to share interesting information, links, articles, etc. I’ve been doing it for some time now, but I came to an epiphany yesterday that is going to change my behavior. Feeling Pain Over a $10 T-Shirt? NOPE, But Principles Matter in Business!

January 25, 2009 Entrepreneurship

A few months ago I decided BiggerPockets.com would be a sponsor for a Real Estate Event that was slated to occur in mid-October. Host Lunarpages Fails to Make the Grade – Again

September 20, 2008 Commentary

I’ve had several clients of mine over the years host their websites with a company called Lunarpages. According to my client, [...]

Important Features for Mailing List Software: Suggestions Needed

September 19, 2008 Marketing

I’ve been using the same mailing list software for close to five years now, a platform called Dada Mail, which is a perl script. While the software is free (GREAT!), it has a lot of limitations.
