White House Somehow Loses Millions of Emails . . . Are You Joking?

April 13th, 2007 by Joshua Dorkin | Filed under Commentary.

The White House yesterday came out claiming that a “potential 5 million emails (were) lost” ( See Full Story )

I have no intention of turning this into any kind of political blog, but give me a break! I’m sorry, but millions of emails don’t just disappear! For my mini web-empire, I’ve got data backup capapbilities to prevent loss of emails, files, etc. The Executive Branch of our government, aka. the White house certainly has better technology than I do. The Federal Presidential Records Act states that all Presidential records are public. It is not a good thing when they disappear, especially when they are relevant in legal cases pending.

There are a few simple ways this could have happened:

  1. The White House made them disappear
  2. The White House made them disappear

Whether you are a Democrat or Republican, you have to see right through this missing email caper. I’m embarassed by the activities of my government and am saddened that some people running the show think the good people of the United States are really that stupid.

In the future when claiming important records just disappeared, they better burn down a few data backup centers or something. At least then we might even slightly consider believing the BS.

Just see what happens if you’re audited by the IRS for your tax return if you tell them,”Sorry, guess I lost all the receipts you’re looking for!”
